Love, Love, Love, love

Love, Love, Love

“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.”

‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Those of us old enough to remember the Beatles are probably humming their melody of “love, love, love 🎶,” in our heads right now.

“All we need is love…it's easy. 🎶"

But as Christians we know love is not all we need. We need Jesus. We need to love the way Jesus loved. We need to remember that “God is love.” He’s the creator of love, the designer of love and the executioner of love. So, to love well we must love like Jesus.

This kind of love looks a bit different than what the world is screaming for now. The world’s definition is “Don’t tell me what to do! Then I will know you love me.”

“Don’t correct my bad or sinful behavior, and I will know that you love me.”

So, let’s pretend we agree with this world’s ideology—what would that look like when we arrive at the “Pearly Gates?” When we find ourselves standing before Jesus, who is the author of love, and our final judge? How do you think He will respond to our worldview of love? Does He say, “Oh yes, I changed my mind because I really like that Beatles song, and I think they got it right!”

Just as a reminder, God is the same yesterday, today and forever. He’s not going to change His mind. He has designed the world and its operations. He has let us know what pleases Him. He has the right to do this—He’s God.

So, let’s stop kidding ourselves thinking if we passively let our loved one live their own life disregarding God, they’ll be okay! We shouldn’t believe that because we agree with their unrighteous behavior, God will also. We will have unintentionally led them astray.

Love does cover (or excuse) a multitude of sins. We do need to love someone through their disrespectful behavior to us, this love covers. It sees past the unkindness that is shown to us, like Jesus experienced. We need to love in a way that covers up; this kind of love ignores a wrong done to us personally. We can continue to be respectful. We can continue to help a person, not by agreeing with their sins, but seeing them as valued and adored by God Himself. This is how we are to love each other. Even our enemies. This type of Christian love leads others to God and His ultimate love and forgiveness, which in the end, is the love that matters.

God’s love, God’s way, doesn’t just cover sin, it abolishes it!

God doesn’t overlook sins; He forgives them and remembers them no more.

We cover, God forgives.

This is our chance, here on earth, to accept His gift of love and forgiveness. It’s our opportunity, right now, to hold this gift out for others to receive and to accept—God’s forgiveness, God’s way.

Before it’s too late.

Do you want to be covered or saved?

Do you want your loved ones covered or saved?

Father,

We need our hearts turned towards You. We need to see what You see. We need to know the seriousness of what making excuses for ourselves or others, has been. And what it will or has cost us. We need Your forgiveness.

Help us to live out our Christian Walk with earnest desperation. Help us to stop playing games with the salvation You died to give us.

Wake us up to the joy of Your resurrected power.

Wake us up to the truth of Your Word.

Wake us up to the eternal hope that

lays untapped within us.

Wake us up to Your goodness, and Your love.

Wake us up to an eternal mindset.

Thank You for Your faithfulness.

Thank You for Your understanding.

Thank You for the way You are resolute about our transformation.

Thank You.

Amen.
