Leaves

“The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So, it is with everyone born of the Spirit,” John 3:8, NIV.
“Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain,” I Corinthians 15:58, NIV.
It was 71 degrees as a nice breeze blew leaves around my ankles as I walked. I thought of the old Charlie Brown classic—and smiled thinking, it’s going to be a beautiful fall.
Then I noticed that there were some leaves not blowing around at all. In fact they were like little soldiers holding their line. Heels dug in—“we’re not moving.”
I thought, that’s the position we are to be in as Christians—prepared and unmovable—waiting for Jesus’ commands.
We are to be steadfast and unmovable, giving ourselves fully to the LORD.
Fully to the LORD.
Yet, isn’t that the most difficult decision to make as Christians—to be completely surrendered? But once we have surrendered, we realize it was foolish to have waited so long to have done so.
Satan does not want dedicated followers of God, so he lies and tells us it can’t be done, or it’s a horrible choice to make. He says we’ll miss out or lose ourselves and become Jesus’ slaves.
But I can tell you that is only part of a testimony—Satan lies, but God speaks truth. When God says I have come to give you life—He means it. Freedom and life for all who want to be God’s dedicated children.
We don’t lose anything, we gain everything.
So, are Satan’s lies holding you back from experiencing full freedom? You know you don’t have to listen to him. We can be like leaf blown Christians that decided to be immovable. Though the winds blow, we don’t move. We stand firm on the truth of God’s Word.
Father,
Thank You for being such a good Father. We love You.
You and You alone teach us and help us to be steadfast for Your well deserved glory.
All it takes is for us to agree with You and Your Word. It’s not always easy, so we ask for help.
We need Your help to be steadfast children. Please teach us how to dig in deep and resist the lies Your enemy uses to sway us away from You.
Help us know the truth that sets us free.
Thank You.
Amen.

Thank you my friend for your insights. I appreciate them.💕
What a wonderful reminder/analogy from this time of year. Thanks so much, Susie.
I live in the 'frozen North' so the majority of our leaves have already fallen, but I'm always amazed at the variation there is between different kinds of trees. Not only are the colors different, but also when they shed their leaves. It seems some hold on to the very end and others are the first to lose their vitality and be blown away. Some retain their vibrant colors and foliage which makes them stand out among the barren, and then there's always those few lone leaves that tenaciously hold on well after the snow flies and temperatures plummet. So many analogies we can make to our…
