Known By God

Known By God

“Those who love God are known by Him,” I Cor. 8:3, NIV.

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness,” Matthew 7:21-23, NIV.

To be known by God is what we all seek. We seek it in so many ways until we find God. The most common way we try to fulfill this desire is through the eyes of others. If we can be grand in their eyes, we teeter with that anticipation. To please others with the hope of their “well done,” motivates us. That’s why when it doesn’t foster that hope, our disappointment turns inward towards sorrow, or becomes an external sense of betrayal. Which can manifest itself in anger, gossip or slander due to our personal disappointment.

However, when we fall in love with God to the point of putting Him first—He then knows us. In this deep knowing our need for being seen and accepted is satisfied. We are complete, for we are known by our Creator God.

He knows us, personally and intimately.

We will walk with God in an intimate relationship, and will never hear,

“Depart from Me I never knew you.”

For we know His voice as our Shepherd and He knows our obedient voice. Our love for Him is our acceptance into His Kingdom. It declares—I accept Your love and agree with You on who You are and my responsibility for obedience.

His sweet voice reminds us that He will never leave us, that He is actually for us. That all the things He has prepared for us to do are doable in His power and might.

I think about my calling into writing back in 2002; I felt more insecure about this than anything else in my life. At first, I wrote to please others, and filled pages with run-on sentences, and used grammar that would shock any English teacher. Thank goodness I have a spell check and grammar app that helps me accomplish what God has asked me to do. I also have been given the gift of a faithful editor, God’s fulfillment of “You can do all things through Christ who gives us strength,” and “All things are possible with God.”

I show up to write, and God supplies the help. How does God know I need help? Because He knows me.

Does He know you? Intimately?

Father,

You know Your children because we have fallen in love with You. Thank You for inviting us into Your kingdom. Thank You for being our final “Well done.” We need not hear it from anyone else, for You are enough.

Be with those who know of You, yet keep You at arms’s length for fear of losing themselves and becoming something unknown to their imaginations. Help them to seek You with all their hearts and draw them into the most rewarding relationship ever.

Help them to know the only thing they lose is their sin nature, and its tug towards shame.

Thank You for being the pure love we all need to wash us from our personal guilt of disobeying You. However that is manifested, for it’s different for all of us.

You are the Creator God, who fixed the trajectory of humanity by sending Your Son Jesus. We give You the praise and glory for loving us so completely.

Amen.
