Interrupt Yourself

“The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them. My eyes are ever on the Lord, for only he will release my feet from the snare,”
Psalm 25:14-15 NIV.
What is my snare? Self-talk.
Like many, I struggle with my thoughts and internal conversations.
The other day I sat down to write, and instead I rehearsed a future conversation that may or more likely, may never happen. But I was going to be ready, just in case.
It was truly a waste of time.
Half way into my monologue, the Holy Spirit said, “You know you can always interrupt yourself. You don’t need to finish this make-believe conversation.”
And with that I stopped, mid sentence. He had released me from my snare.
If I truly want to partner with God, I must focus on what my task is for my day. As I read His Word and pray, I need to be mindful of Him, and not an imaginary conversation.
I must also fear Him; with an awe and respect that when He calls, I respond, “Yes and Amen.”
So I need to ask myself:
Do I trust God today?
Do I fear Him to the point of obedience today?
If not, what will I do about it?
Father,
Thank you for loving us. Such deep selfless, yet all consuming love. A love that created us in the first place to partner with You with intentional fellowship.
Thank You for sustaining us when we are weak. For shepherding us when we are lost, and for guiding us on Your path of righteousness.
We gladly walk with You. We gladly sing Your praise. We gladly call You Father and LORD.
Please continue Your very good care of us. Our hearts are gladdened at Your presence.
Amen.
