Discouraged?

“I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. And I will bring you to the land I swore with uplifted hand to give to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob. I will give it to you as a possession. I am the LORD.’
Moses reported this to the Israelites, but they did not listen to him because of their discouragement and harsh labor,”
Exodus 6:7-9, NIV.
When we feel the weight of life’s burdens, sometimes the last thing we think we need is God’s Word. The pattern of rejecting the best help for personal reasons, is not new to our generation.
Moses experienced it with the people of Israel, “The Egyptians have made our labor worse, why would we listen to God?”
Sometimes it will get worse before it gets better, but when God promises it will get better, it will. We have numerous Biblical accounts and present-day testimonies of God’s victory to support His promises.
It’s tough when you’re in the thick of it, when life is literally dragging you under, but please remember, God is with you. He loves you and He cares for you deeply.
He heard the cries of the Israelites, He heard Stephen’s cry when he was being stoned to death, He heard His own Son cry out from the cross, He hears you as well. He is a God filled with compassion and care for His people. He didn’t cause your pain, suffering and misery, but He can use it to draw you into His presence if you allow Him to do so, just ask.
One way to break the cycle of whatever you are experiencing is to take the first step. Reach out to God. He promises that if you draw near to Him, He will draw near to you, James 4:8.
God doesn’t desire anyone to hit “rock bottom.” God can catch us at any point during our fall. He will when we finally say, “Not my way, Yours be done, help me.”
Are you able to reach out to Him today?
“Casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully]. [Ps 55:22]”
1 Peter 5:7, AMP.
Father,
You are beyond good. You are as faithful as Your Word. Thank You.
Please be with those who mourn, weep and struggle through life. They don’t need another pithy statement or bumper sticker encouragement, they need You.
Help me to see others as You do, to love them as You do. I am far from perfect in achieving this lofty goal, but with You all things are possible.
Help us to draw near to You, as we humble our hearts declaring You are sufficient. So, You can draw near, build up and cast away that which Your family struggles with. Sometimes it’s instant, sometimes it’s a journey. But help us not to let go of Your hand.
You are a good, good God, and we declare You above all others, even ourselves…especially ourselves.
Amen.
