"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me,'” John 24:6, ESV.

“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am,” John 24:3, NIV.

“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live,” John 24:16-19, NIV.

“For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever,”

Jesus has made some remarkable declarations:

“I am the way, the truth and the life.“

“I go to prepare a place for you.”

“I will send you a helper—the very Spirit of God.”

“I will come back.…”

These are such remarkable statements that we need to experience them to fully understand their meaning. Being followers of Jesus we have all had moments where these truths have taken our breath away. We realize God is who He claims to be!

The only mystery left to fulfill is His return. This is a mystery for all of us—because it hasn’t happened yet.

How will the world, those who do not understand any of the mysteries of God, explain the second coming of Christ?

I have an idea—alien abduction. My husband and I just watched a movie—and it shall remain unmentioned, due to the fact that this “B” movie might cause undue eye rolls. Anyway—

Aliens arrive on earth, abduct humans, humans seek to understand why. When the aliens and men finally meet, they ask— “Why did you abduct us?”

“We (through a computerized translator, that apparently speaks alien—I told you “B” movie), are seeking this aura,"—and then waves his or her hand—it apparently is a difficult species to determine sex—and a picture of Jesus appears. No, it is not a Christian movie.

The alien explains that this aura holds the mysteries of all origins, and we seek to know him. "Humans have traces of it, but we want to know the original. That’s why we abducted you."

When Christians meet Jesus in the clouds, there is now a precedent set for our leaving earth. Alien abduction.

Isn’t it amazing what we humans will do to justify our rejection of God’s Word. At least aliens believe He exists.

As long as mankind can keep God in a box, limit His power, dethrone His deity we can then believe He “exists.” But it has to be on our terms. Don’t give God the credit, the glory, or the honor He deserves. Why? Because then one must make a choice—my way or God’s way. Once we see God as He truly is—we will bow the knee and humble ourselves to His authority. For He is worthy. And we become willing to serve Him on His terms. However, mankind struggles with bowing the knee in complete surrender to God, because we want our own way.

Until we understand that Jesus is graciously the way, lovingly the truth, and generously the life, we won’t fully believe and follow. Some might still want to play the game while making excuses, others will pretend to agree and leave every church service dissatisfied. And many might believe that aliens did take their neighbors—while missing the second coming of Christ all together.

Where are you—standing in disbelief? Sitting with some conviction? Or on your knees in complete surrender?

Father,

Thank You that You are the way! You made it possible for us to have a relationship with You—You created the path made from the wood of the cross that Jesus, Your Son, died on to save mankind.

You are the truth—You speak truth in order to help us understand what is wrong and right. What is real and what is the imposter, the fake, the lies. Thank You for giving us The Truth—that has set mankind free, and broken the chains of sin that so easily entangles us.

Thank You that You are life. The real life and You have offered it to us.

Life filled with hope, passion, joy and longing to know You better day by day. You have given us real freedom.

Thank You that You help us trust You more day by day as we journey with You.

Forgive us when alien abduction seems more reasonable than the second coming of Your Son, Jesus.

Help us to bend the knee daily and make our days—Your days.
